How To Delete An Undeletable File In Windows 7 and Windows 8

Sometimes we face some problems with files and folder in Windows which are Undeletable. If you try to delete it, a small pop up box will open saying “Access Denied” Or this File is used by Other Programme.

This actually means either the file is locked by the system or being hit by a Virus. In both cases deleting files is restricted. But there is a simple method by which you can delete those files which you may no longer want.

STEP-1.Open Command Prompt By Pressing Windows Key+R. In Command prompt type cmd

STEP-2.Exit all other Programmes running.
 
STEP-3.Open Task Manger By Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. In Task Manager go to Processes Tab and End Process explorer.exe

STEP-4.Leave Task Manager open and go back to the Command Prompt Window.
 
STEP-5.Now Change to the directory the undeletable file is located in. For Example My file is located at K:\Blogger\template-3318832990163994823.xml
 
STEP-6.Change Directory from C: to K: by typing K:

  STEP-7.To see the folders in K drive type dir.

STEP-8.To move into Blogger type cd blogger.

Step-9. Now its time to type DEL followed by the filename in the command prompt. Now the specified file will be deleted.

You can see file is deleted.

Step-10. Now we need to restart the Explorer. So go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the processes once again. Close Task manager and note that the file is deleted.
